Research & Planning: Music Magazine Analysis 1.

Analysis:

  1. Target Audience
  2. Representation
  3. Genre
  4. Layout
  5. Media Language

  1. The target audience to me is teenagers and young adults. I can tell this because the chosen artists are of the pop genre and typically, artists such as Katy Perry are listened too by teenagers and young adults the most.
  2. Here the model (Katy Perry) is represented in a happy - but not smiling - and relaxed manner in this full body shot. She does where a black dress, which cuts off mid-thigh but this dress is scattered in bright colourful flowers. These bright colours such as pink and yellow appeal to the target audience because young adults and teenagers are at the highlight of there life and tend to enjoy having fun, which is what these colours represent. (The dress analysis links to the Media Language too, specifically mise-en-scene.)
  3. The genre here is Pop. I know this because it states this saying "inside the court of the new queen of pop", but I can also tell it is of the pop genre because of the chosen artist in the photo and the names of artists that are stated within the cover lines.
  4. The full body shot fits very nicely when covering the masthead because the shape of Katy Perry's head fits the gap of the letter "o" in the masthead named "Billboard." This is a creative way to layout the mast head and photograph because it is a unique way to represent there magazine and will attract the audience with the creative way of merging the masthead and photograph, which i'm sure took lots of care in placing in the exact right place.
  5. The music magazine also follows a three colour rule of Pink, Yellow and White. Although, a few colours such as red and blue in the masthead do pop up which I don't like because it interferes with the set colour scheme. The colours are a nice choice however because they represent summer, which relates to joy and happiness, which connects to how teenagers and young adults should feel when in this part of there life because they are free in a way and not tied down to anything.
